Disallow Flash-Cookies

Instruction for increased security

Flash-Cookies, also called Local Shared Objects (LSOs), are files created by flash animations for Macromedia Flash Player version 6.0 and above. They are used by the animations to store information on the viewers hard disk. The files have the extension ".sol". Unlike normal cookies they can store large amount of information of any kind and are therefore a potential security risk. It is recommended to disallow Flash-Cookies unless they are really needed by the users software. Especially some games will not work properly without Flash-Cookies.

1.) Set storage space for Flash-Cookies to zero
Open Settings Manager for Flash Player (English / German).
Choose "Global Storage Settings Panel" on the menu bar to the left.
Drag slide for storage space to zero.

2.) Set storage space for list of visited websites to zero and wipe history

    (German Operating System: ...(user) \Anwendungsdaten\Macromedia\FlashPlayer\#SharedObjects\)
